Treaty Collections

Texts and status of multi- and bi-lateral treaties.
  • United Nations - The UN Treaty Series, and multilateral treaties deposited with the Secretary-General (but not yet published in print), are searchable by date, party, subject, registration number, or combination of these search field. The reservations (RUDs) and status of these treaties are also available.

  • United States Senate Treaty Documents - The treaty documents database for the 104th through the 107th US Congresses can be searched by subject. This database consists of treaties that were sent to the Senate for "advice and consent," but are not yet ratified by the President. Be sure to select Treaty Documents on the search form. A list of recent treaty actions is available at the Department of State web site. Access the US Senate web server to track treaty legislation through the ratification process.

  • Office of the Legal Advisor, US Department of State - The Assistant Legal Advisor for Private International Law maintains a treaty databases in the following subject areas: Business Transactions, Family Law, Jusicial Assistance, and Will, Trusts and Estates.

  • The Multilaterals Project at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, provides full text searching to treaty collections in the subject areas of Atmosphere and Space, Flora and Fauna/Biodiversity, Cultural Protection, Diplomatic Relations, Human Rights, Marine and Coastal, the Environment generally, Trade and Commercial Relations, Rules of Warfare, Arms Control and the Gulf Area Borders.

  • Avalon Project at Yale University includes the texts of significant historical treaties and agreements among its general collection of digital documents relating the the history of law, diplomacy and economics in the United States during the past 300 years. The Avalon project provides text and editorial enhancements to assist researchers navigate through this web site.

  • The Organization of American States -- Trade Unit contains full text documentation and is organizaed into multi- and bi-lateral agreements, regional agreements, nonreciprocal agreements, general association and cooperation agreements relative to trade in the Americas. The text of the North American Free Trade Agreement is available at this site.
